Our Journey with God

to form Hope Christian Academy

In August 2017, the small, beloved Christian school in our community closed its doors. Many people in our community were heartbroken. Following that decision, a small group of parents, grandparents and former staff met and expressed their concern and need for a Christian school in our community. It is from that desire and need, through prayer, that this group started to form the concept and plan for our school. We knew what we wanted: a non-denominational Bible based education; we wanted parent and community involvement; we wanted church involvement and support, we wanted to succeed where others had not, but most importantly, we wanted God to be our guide. We didn’t know where to start, but our hearts were burdened for the need of a Christian School in our community.

We met a few times, prayed, exchanged ideas and prayed again.

On October 24, 2017, after prayer, we chose the name Hope Christian Academy of Fulton County, (locally called Hope Christian Academy or HCA) for our school’s name and signed our Fictitious Name Application.

These meetings were well attended, informative, and encouraging.

On December 8, 2017 & December 31, 2017, we looked at prospective school sites in the southern end of Fulton County but couldn’t seem to find the right one. At one of our Community Meetings, someone suggested the old Police Barracks in McConnellsburg. At first, I personally wasn’t thrilled with the idea of traveling so far from my “comfort zone”, and I believe some of our group felt the same, but our continued prayer was not our will, but Yours, Lord. From the moment the call was made to inquire about the building, blessings poured out. The willingness of the owners to support our plans for our school and work with us, blessed us beyond our imagination. We may have had our plans, but God has His, we shouldn’t have been surprised by the speed and ease of obtaining our school site.

On April 11, 2018 we signed the lease to our school site at 23170 Great Cove Rd., McConnellsburg, PA 17233!

It has been an amazing journey so far, I can’t wait to see what God has planned for us.

Come join us in this incredible journey with God. Come attend planning meetings, volunteer, support us financially or sponsor a child, but most importantly, pray for us to follow God’s lead and to be in His glorious will.

Blessings to you and your family as you travel on your own journey with God.
